15 Random Things About Me

1. I love music! I also love a very wide variety of music--anything from Elvis and Savage Garden to Dean Martin and Shania Twain. I love music from every era, and I can't possibly pick a favorite genre. Most of the time I am partial to the golden oldies, but I also love pop and church music. The only music I don't listen to is rap and hard rock.

2. I can play several instruments. I have played the clarinet since I was 11, and I was named first chair in the state in high school. I can play the saxophone (in all its varieties); I also taught myself to play the piano (I'm not an especially good sight reader, but I can play almost anything I really want to learn. I can play all the Hymns).

3. When I was thirteen, my brother took me out for a driving lesson. I ended up rolling the car, and my seatbelt came loose because it was only bolted to the carpet. I came away with only a scratch, and everyone at the hospital had to come see because they were sure I'd be mangled. To this day I am paranoid about driving, and riding with a scary driver is my worst nightmare.

4. I am obsessive compulsive about some things and couldn't care less about others. For example, laundry has to be washed, folded, and put away the way I like it. Clothes have to be hung up in a certain order. Needless to say, I am the only one who does laundry in my house, but I don't really care about how the dishes are done, so Justin helps out with them quite often. I do love my house to be clean and orderly.

5. I got straight A's in high school until the third quarter of my senior year. I got a C on a major test in English on Hamlet--to this day I cannot stand the play. I got straight A's in college until I met Justin. The semester we got married was a rough one on my GPA...

6. I am obsessed with getting my food storage. I am constantly looking for good deals I can stock up on.

7. I do not like to go shopping. I have only bought about 10% of my wardrobe--the rest of it came from my mom and my sisters in the form of hand-me-downs. I love their hand-me-downs!

8. I love to sew and make crafty stuff. I refuse to buy most things that I can make myself.

9. Justin and I almost never watch TV. We have cable in our house (because we pay for it with our association dues), but it is not hooked up. We do love to watch TV series on DVD though. We have already watched "I Love Lucy," and we are currently working on "Monk."

10. When I was in high school, I went line dancing with my friends at The Dance Factory nearly every weekend. I even won one of the hundred dollar dance competitions.

11. I have always wanted to be a mom when I grew up, and after my children are raised, I want to be a college professor.

12. I love to read. Justin and I have hundreds of books, and I have read nearly every one. Once I get sucked into a book, it's hard for me to concentrate on anything else.

13. I am almost always happy. I love to smile and be happy. If I am not feeling happy, I will pretend I am until I do.

14. I love to keep a journal, and I have kept a fairly consistent one since I was in third grade.

15. My favorite thing is to spend time with my husband and my baby. I especially love going for hikes with them and nighttime walks around the neighborhood.

I tag Megs, Mia, and April because you are all a little random at times! ;)

Look At Those Pretty Blues

I was playing with Sophie, and I took this picture. I just love Sophie's big, pretty eyes.

Sophie's Toy

Today was an exciting day! Sophie grabbed her first toy. I know it's a moment only a mother would document, but I couldn't resist--she just looked so stinkin' adorable!

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day was a lot of fun this year. We made some heart cookies. Justin also sent me on a schavenger hunt around the house! At the end of the hunt, I found tickets to the parade of homes. We ate a nice dinner at home of crab and clam chowder. It was a fantastic day.
The first clues on the table.

My parade of homes tickets.
Here's a group shot with our "treasure." Justin also put an eye patch on Sophie, but I guess she didn't go for it!
This is Sophie in her pretty outfit for church the next day. She got this dress from her aunt April.

Sophie's Laugh

Justin was playing with Sophie on the couch last night, and she laughed for the first time. She's kind of been giggling a little, but last night was the real deal! She has such a cute little laugh. It's so fun to see our baby grow!

After a night of playing, they were both pretty tired.

Fixing the Car

Justin and I decided it was time to change the oil on our car. We had never changed the oil in our chevy, but we figured it couldn't be that difficult. Well, it was not easy finding the oil filter. Justin's dad had to come help me find it. (Thanks Dan!) In the process of changing the oil, we ended up flushing the transmission fluid as well--mostly by accident. There was a leak coming from the transmission pan, but I thought it was the oil pan. Anyway, we got everything changed and fixed, and the car runs better than ever!

I got really dirty rolling around under the car.
Sophie watched the whole excapade from her stroller.

We Call Her Sophie Super-Cool!

We always felt bad for Sophie when we took her out into the blinding sun, so we found her some baby shades! She actually doesn't even mind them on her face.
Daddy nicknamed her Sophie Super-Cool!

Tasha's Baby Shower

Megs and I got together last saturday to throw our friend Tasha a baby shower.

Here is the beautiful mother-to-be opening her presents.
Alexis and Megs had a great time playing the games.
We all had a lot of fun. Now I can't wait to see Tasha's beautiful baby girl!

Sophie's Shots

This is a picture of Sophie with her little bandaids. Getting shots is definitely not our favorite thing in this house. Sophie cried, and mommy cried--not fun at all. She also was a little fussy the rest of the day. She just wanted to be cuddled, which was okay with me because there is nothing I love more!

Sophie is 2 months old!

Justin and I took Sophie to her 2 month check-up today. It was so sad to see her get her shots, but she got over it quickly. She has really gone through a growth spurt lately. She is 9 lbs 10 oz. (she's in the 40th percentile for weight now!) She is also 22 inches long. (That is the fiftieth percentile.) The doctor said she is above average for alertness and personality! Sophie is so fun--we love her very much!
Sophie pulls some really cute faces. We just love to watch her!

Sophie looks a lot like both of us. People are constantly debating on who she looks more like!

7 1/2 Hours!

Sophie settled into a pretty good schedule soon after she was born. She would go to sleep between 10:00 and 10:30 and sleep until 4:30 (with some exceptions). For the last couple of nights I have woken up at 4:30 (I'm trained I guess) only to find...

Sophie has slept until 5:30 the last 3 nights! I'm hoping she'll sleep for longer soon, but until then, I'm pretty happy! (She does go back to sleep until 8:00 after she eats, so I figure I'm pretty lucky!)

Sophie's Blessing

We blessed our beautiful baby yesterday. Her daddy did a wonderful job. So many people came down to support us, and we really appreciate it! It was a very special day for our family.

Our Family in front of our chapel. (Thanks Amy for the pic.)
Sophie and Daddy.
Sophie looked beautiful in her dress from her Grandma Sullivan.

Here she is with a little bit of a smile.

My cousin Sandy got engaged! Yeah!

My Grandma Sullivan, my Dad, Me, and the little one.

A four generation shot! My Grandma Green, my Mom, Me, and Sophie.

Our house was filled to capacity. Here is Jennifer hanging out in the hallway.

Our crowded kitchen.

And the living room. Wow we had a lot of support!

Girl's Night

Last thursday I got together with some friends for a girl's night. We ate food and watched American Idol. We had a great time!
This is Ava playing with Sophie. Sophie loved her!
This is Jennica.

It was good to get out for a night with the girls!
My beautiful friend Lacey let us come over to her house and supplied us with yummy food.
This is Jennica's baby Jarrett. He learned how to clap that night. He clapped by accident and then looked at his hands in amazement. It was adorable.

I put Sophie in her walker for the first time. She loved it! She was smiling to the music it plays. She was sitting up like such a big girl.
She is just so cute!

Her little feet didn't reach the ground on even the lowest setting. She just kicked them around!
