4th of July

We spent this 4th of July with my sister in Holden. We had such a great time; it seemed like the entire county was there to celebrate all the events! I love small town support!
Here we are at the parade in Fillmore. It was so fun to watch all the kids scramble for the candy! Here are my mom and dad and April's son Danny.

After the parade, we went to the park for some food and entertainment. Here is Danny. He is such a cute little boy, so full of mischief.
Emma and April
Jake
Mommy and Sophie again. Check out my lovely hair. I sprayed sunblock on my part to keep it from sunburning, and from then on, my hair was very special. I'll have to come up with a different idea for next time.
Jennifer, Will and Danny
The kids had a fantastic time riding on this little train.
And my mom painted Emma for the holiday.
That evening, we went to the demolition derby in Delta. This was a very well-attended event as well. Emma and I are taking in the action.

Sophie was so sleepy during the entire thing, but just when she'd nod off, someone would start screaming. She made it almost to the end, and then all the noise was just too much for her. Justin and I left a little early.
Gary and Tucker
Gary got to be in the pie eating contest. He's there on the left. He said it turned out to be just whip cream, and after they told everyone they got a prize, they discovered they had forgotten them. But Gary did a good job anyway!
You can see the raid clouds starting to roll in.
And here we are trying to stay dry during the little downpour.
My mom and Danny got under a trash bag. Danny got a kick out of the fact that they made a hole for him too!
One of the cars tipped upside-down. Luckily the guy was just fine.
Justin's favorite car was the batman one. It got second place.

After the derby, we began the long drive home. Justin and I finally arrived home at 2:00 am. It was a fabulous day with family!

Lake Day

We have been lake bunnies this summer. We went out with my parents on the 3rd.
My mom, dad, Will, Justin, and Sophie on the party barge!
Sophie is still not a fan of her life jacket, but she is such a good girl.

Justin and I took Sophie in for some lake time. She liked it a lot better this time than last time.
And Justin and I got to ride on my dad's banana boat. Will rode on there too the first time, but I vowed to get back at him after he threw me off, so he wouldn't get back on.
My mother-in-law and I went on a two hour search for swimsuits last week, and I finally was able to find this one. With a little bit of alteration, I really like it. I has cute bottoms too, but I wore my white skirt to avoid too much sun!

Lake Day

Saturday, July 27th, we went to the lake. Justin's family came along, and we had a fabulous time. We took my dad's canoes along, and we stayed all day. By that evening, we were all exhausted, and even though we applied sunblock a few times, Justin and I were both lobster red.
It was a perfect day for the lake!
Here is Justin's dad not wearing a shirt, though you couldn't tell...
The men hauled the three canoes to the beach.
Sophie had her very first lake experience. This isn't a very good picture, but she kicked her legs frantically in the water.
Sophie was such a good girl all day!
A bunch of us posing in front of our shade for the day.
Sophie sat in her little floaty most of the day. She loved it. Here she is in her Little Mermaid swimming suit.
A blurry Sophie playing with her grandma.
We all pitched in to build a sand castle.
And then the boys tore it apart and threw it at each other.
And then the war turned into a dunking fest in the water.
Justin's nephew Kaden, Anna, and Anna's sister Yvonne.
Sophie even took a nap in her floaty.

Justin and I had a fabulous time canoeing. And check out my ghostly white legs!

My cousins Gary and Megs came toward the end to hang out with us!
Megs and Tucker
Gary was the only one who successfully tipped his canoe over in the water.
Little Tucker loved the water.

Dan ended up getting pegged by one of the canoes when we were carrying them back.
Later it looked like he was harboring a baseball in his forearm. (He is fine now though)
To end the day we had a barbecue and watched The Princess Bride. Here is Sophie playing with her cousin Kaden.
