Salt Lake Trip

In October we took a trip to Salt Lake for Justin to meet with an admission counselor for Westminster College.  Justin and I decided to move up there to pursue his Master's Degree, but we have since put the degree on hold due to some developments with his job.  When more details fall into place, we will share the rest of the story.  In the meantime, we had a fantastic time!

Sophie eating her lunch we packed for the drive.  No, she didn't get a whole can of Pringles.  There were only like 5 left, so I gave her the canister.
We stopped at the Valley Fair Mall to hit up Chick-Fil-A, but alas, it was no longer there.
Justin spent a lot of time here growing up.
So we ate Chinese food and let Sophie ride in the ice cream truck instead.
We went to The Peppermint Place to go on a tour (something Justin did as a kid), but the tours were no longer offered, so we bought some candy...
and went to The Dinosaur Museum at Thanksgiving Point instead.
Which turned out to be way fun!

Sophie loved building her own dinosaur.

And she loved searching for the fossils.  She had no idea where to put them, but she had fun nonetheless.
We played in the sand area.  Just as I was snapping this picture, a little boy threw a big huge handful of sand into her hair.
He kept doing it, and when I tried to get his mom to stop him, she didn't do a thing, so Sophie's sand playing came to an end.
 Justin loves megaladons...
 Sophie, not so much...
And then we searched for fossils.

 The experiment center was awesome!

 Yeah for family shots!
The next day we decided to go to Hogle Zoo.  We noticed a stark difference between ourselves and the Salt Lake natives.  We had our kids and ourselves completely bundled, and everyone else was walking around in maybe a sweatshirt...

 Sophie loved loved the zoo!

 I love them so much!
The giraffes ended up being Sophie's favorite.

And for old time's sake, the lion drinking fountain...
It only scared us a little less than when we were kids...

Sophie wanted to copy my pictures...

We had someone take our picture, and he totally cut Sophie out.  Oh well...
My sweet little bug!

Overall, it was an excellent weekend.  We felt bad because we usually spend a lot of time visiting family and friends up in Salt Lake, but this time we wanted to make it just about us and the fun things to do up there.  It was awesome to have a weekend to make some big decisions for our future...
