Oct Misc

October is another month that went by too fast!  Katie turned 5 months old.  She remains a sweet baby with a wonderful disposition.  Katie loves kisses more than anything.  She loves to grab onto my hair, force her face toward mine, and slobber all over my face.  She is an excellent crawler, and she loves to be with mommy all the time.

Sophie and Tucker got into the dirt outside one day after school.  The results were disastrous.

Halloween

Halloween is seriously one of my favorite holidays.  Unfortunately, I didn't get many pictures this year, but we had a fantastic time.

I started the day with a nice run with my girls.
This is not my costume, but Justin bought me this dress and sweater, and I was way excited to wear them.
Katie loves for me to haul her around all day.
I made jack o'lantern pancakes of course...
And Justin was Elvis for the big day.

Halloween Carnival

Okay, so I know I'm posting about October in January, but stay tuned over the next few days as a bunch of posts will show up and bring me up to date.

My mom invited us to attend her Halloween Carnival at Hurricane Elementary School.  Justin had to work because it was a Thurs evening, but the kids and I had a fantastic time.

I made Sophie this Rapunzel dress.  Her hair didn't look quite so scraggly before, but she had been jumping in a bouncy castle pretty much non-stop up to this point.
I think Sophie re-entered this bouncy castle almost 30 times.  My mom got us a huge amount of tickets, and this is all Sophie wanted to do...

I did go pick up some food in between all the jumping, and while I was standing with my pickle, I looked down to see Katie going to town on it.  I can't believe that a girl who wouldn't eat apple sauce was loving a pickle.  I guess she comes by it rightfully because I love, love them!
Katie was a teddy bear (the same costume Sophie wore when she was a baby), but Sophie insisted she was a gummy bear.  To this day if you ask Sophie what Katie was for Halloween, she will insist gummy bear.
 I love this picture!

Staheli Farms

On a Monday evening, we got together with my mom and dad and Gary and Megs for some fun at Staheli farms.  Sophie of course loved it because she loves all things animals.
Yes, I'm the crazy mother who put her daughter in a white dress for the farms.  Yes, I wasn't thinking.  Luckily, bleach works...

The loved that this goat was in the feed bucket.

This jumping pillow was a definite hit; it was incredibly difficult to get them to move on.

Here's the group shot before heading into the maze.  Once in, we weren't sure we were going to make it out.  Sophie led us most of the way, and we just went where she wanted to go.  Eventually she was overthrown as leader when we went around the same circle 4 times.
My dad gave Sophie a dollar to ride on this horse.  I was so excited for it, but Justin DID NOT want her on  there.  It took a lot of convincing, but he finally conceded when he saw an 18 month-old little boy on one.  He was still nervous the entire time, and he breathed a huge sigh of relief when it was over.  My dad stood by her the whole time, so I saw no danger, but I love how concerned Justin was for his little girl.
It was really dark at this point.  The sun completely set during her ride, and that's why my camera is funky.  Sophie loved riding the horse!

Zion

After a particularly difficult week for my family it was so nice to get away for a day.  My parents were staying up in Zion, so we decided to join them for a Saturday.

Katie loves her grandma.
 She's such a babe!
Group shot--only our picture taker cut out Katie.
These squirrels are pretty consistent when it comes to getting food...
Sophie wanted to walk the entire time, but unfortunately her little legs got so tired.  She really didn't want to get in the stroller though...
 Yeah for family shots!
Like I said before, very persistent....

Apparently the squirrel didn't read the sign.

 My mom and dad.

My dad took us all to get some ice cream in Springdale.
Sophie got birthday cake ice cream.  It kept dripping, and Justin and I had to take turns licking it so it wouldn't go anywhere.  Let's just say we fought over this job.... Over who had to do it.  Talk about yuck!  Sorry to those of you who just love birthday cake.
 Sophie is among its fans.
