Date Night Halloween Style

Yesterday Sophie and I went and visited Justin at work. Here is Sophie as an adorable bear, and Justin in his costume. You'll have to wait until I post Halloween pictures to find out what he is...
We went to dinner at the Brick Oven. It was very delicious!

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, but it doesn't really make sense that it's my favorite because I HATE to be scared, and this includes haunted things. I don't like scary movies, and I'm not extremely fond of the dark in general. (I had a traumatic experience with a neighborhood haunted house when I was about 6.) But I do love dressing up in something I wouldn't normally wear and having that be okay! Justin and I went to the Staheli Farm to go to the corn maze, and because I do not like to be scared, we went to the normal one while we listened to all the other schmucks screaming in the Field of Screams.

Justin's not sure where to go...
We finally made it out!

Sophie's Friend

My good friend dropped her son off for a few hours, and boy did he and Sophie have a good time! This is the first time I've seen Sophie actually play with another baby in a normal way, and by normal I mean not try to jab the other kid's eyes out. They made a huge mess, jabbered away at each other, and ate about 3 cups of cheerios. They also enjoyed a rousing episode of "Little House on the Prairie" as you can see in the background of one of the pictures. We had a fantastic time!

The Fish Fiasco!

This last weekend was full of fun adventures. Justin's childhood friend came to stay with us for the weekend which was way fun. I got to learn more about "little Justin" from the perspective of an accomplice in crime. On Saturday we went to help Justin's parents move Michael's 200 gallon fish tank from their house. We also had a picnic and went to "Where the Wild Things Are." Sunday we went and hung out with my parents. What a busy/fun time! (These pictures are actually in reverse chronological order. I had a complete brain lapse.)
My mom got Sophie this Minnie Mouse sweater from Disneyland. Sophie didn't even mind the hood up.

This is Sophie's lovely hairdo after a night of playing at Grandma and Grandpa's.
After the fish fun, we went outside to find this sunset. We had to take some pictures. Justin and I look huge because we were so close to the camera!

We ate a yummy bbq dinner!
Anna celebrating the empty space in her den!
The huge paku fish was running low on air, so Kaden and I blew him bubbles. Oh yeah! Yummy carbon dioxide!
It was very nerve racking to put my face near that water. The paku would often splash water EVERYWHERE with his powerful tail. I was sure I was going to get it in the face any moment.
I wish we would have got a better picture of him so you could appreciate his impressive size. He filled this entire bin!
This is Justin after having wrestled said paku Bruce into the bin from the tank. It was quite the experience! The paku even broke the huge fish net. He weighs in at 40 lbs!
The other fish weren't quite so bad.
Another shot of the aftermath of Bruce the terrible!
We love to go on family picnics, and Saturday was so beautiful we decided to take Scott along for one.
Sophie loves to copy Daddy!
A not so good picture of our family, but a family picture all the same.
Scott, Justin, and Sophie.
Sophie waiting patiently for some food on Friday evening. She's just too cute!
Scott actually made us dinner when he came over. It was a nice break for me!

Daddy's Hair-dos

After Sophie takes a bath, Justin just loves to do Sophie's hair. He loves to make weird spikes or curls or anything else his creative mind can think of. Needless to say, he never does Sophie's hair for real. Here is just a sampling of Sophie's interesting styles.

Sophie's lovely spike/Mohawk look. And, of course, we must have the lovely diva curls on the face look.
On an unrelated note, I was cleaning Sophie's room, and I decided to get into the corner behind her crib and found 5 binkies! We are always buying new binkies because the ones she has seem to vanish into thin air. I wonder where else this little girl has been stashing these things...

The Happenings

These are just some random pictures from things we've been doing the last couple weeks.
First off, is conference. We absolutely loved it! Sophie was really into it. She even lead the choir during the singing.
Some of us paid better attention than others.

On Sunday, we went to my parent's house. Sophie sure loved my mom's lasagna.
Max even brought his children along. The girls had a fun time with Sophie.
And my mom and dad had a good time playing with Sophie.
On Monday night we had the opportunity to see Footloose at Tuacahn. Sophie was pretty good for most of it, but we did have to take her to the back for the last two numbers.
It was pretty cold during the performance, so we bundled Sophie up in lots of blankets.
This last Saturday we went on a family picnic. It was a much needed outing for all of us.

We pushed Sophie in the swing, and she loved it!

And we even took her down the slide which she liked much more than the last experience she had.

Justin and I both got new callings yesterday as well. In addition to his stake auditing position, Justin is now the ward employment specialist. And I was called to be the first counselor in the Relief Society Presidency. We are very nervous and very excited to serve in our new positions!
